Frogs belong to the Chordata type and amphibian class. They have the potential to live on water and land. They are a toad, which means that they do not have a tail and belong to the order of Anura. Most frogs have long hind limbs, webbed figures, a short body, protruding eyes and no tail.

Frogs have broader powers for jumping from here and there that control their short body and long hind legs that help with jumping. They have permeable skin and semi-aquatic prefer to live in swamped, but can easily walk on the ground. They oviparous and lay their eggs in ponds and lakes.

Larvae that hatch from eggs is called tadpoles, which are characterized by the presence of gills and complete their development in water. Adult frogs are carnivorous and feed on gastropods ringed and arthropods. They are easy to detect during their mating season of their croaking and husky sound.

Most Frogs are found in Tropical Forests

Frogs are easily available in tropical and subarctic regions, but most species are found in tropical forests. They form a heterogeneous group of vertebrates, and about 5,000 species are known to date. Some species, however, are on the verge of extinction. Frogs differ from toads, as frogs prefer to live in dry habitats, and this difference is based on convergence. Frog word comes from the old English word frogga, which means “jump.”

Morphology and Physiology

Frogs are quite typical among amphibians. Between these two amphibian groups, the salamander and caecilian are unusual, as adults do not have a tail and the hind legs are fitted with more jumps than walking. Their physiology is similar to other amphibians, such as oxygen can easily penetrate their moist skin. This function allows them to breathe through the skin. Oxygen easily dissolves in the moist layer of the skin in the form of a film and is transferred to the blood, from where it is transported later.

Frogs always keep their skin moist. This feature enables makes the frog susceptible to toxins dissolved in water and responsible for reducing the population of some species of frogs. Frogs have long hind legs with elongated ankle bones. Their spine is short, consisting of about ten vertebrae, and then the condensed coccyx is called the coccyx.

Body Size

The frog’s body size is from 10 mm to 300 mm. Loose skin on the body, since there is no connective tissue. The texture of the skin may be smooth, warty or folded. They have three eyelids. One is transparent – which protects the eyes from water, and both are transparent to opaque. They have a tympanic membrane on either side of the head that helps the ear. They have pedicellate teeth. Most frogs have teeth only on the upper jaw and vomerine teeth for their taste. Teeth basically for carrying out plunder the place from where it is swallowed.
