1. The hand is an unit of measure which telling how tall the horse is. The hand is of four inches, and the horses are measured from the ground to the withers, and which is the point where their neck connects to the shoulder. Most riding horses have a height of 15 to 16 hands tall. Drafters can be 18 hands tall. Ponies can be 13-14 hands or shorter.


2. Pony is not a small horse, it is a separate breed. Horse-babies are called foals when they are born. If the foal is a male, this is called a colt. If it’s a female, it’s a filly. Once a male is castrated, it is called the gelding. When the foals are three years old, the female will be called a mare, and the male will be called either a stallion or a stallion.

3. Ponies usually grow to about 13-14 hands, although they can reach 14.3 hands measured at the withers. Ponies are harder than their larger counterparts, with stiffer hooves. There are different ponies breeds, like horses. Some of them are larger and healthier, while others are beautiful and can be more fragile of limb.

In training, the horse trains to become supple and very attentive to his rider.
