Koenigsegg car brands are still quite young. This project was officially launched in 1993. The creator of the brand was Christian von Koenigsegg, who had intentions to create a true dream car. The concept of the future machine was based on technology formula. Can it be surprising that Koenigsegg has become one of the fastest street cars in the world?

Koenigsegg built its first prototype car in 1994, just a year and a half after the company was founded. World-famous drivers checked this model and everyone was impressed by its incredible performance. Among them were Picko Troberg, Calle Rosenblad, and Rickard Rydell. According to Troberg, the new car would be the king of speed.

In 1997, the company created a Koenigsegg CC prototype. The car was shown at Cannes and was a great success. A new star comes in the world of cars. Production of silver prototype CC draws attention to the presentation at the Paris Motor Show.

The first custom-built Koenigsegg CC, called the CC 8S, was assembled and handed over by its proud owner at the Geneva Motor Show in March. This red car was also tested with the help of test drivers Koenigsegg on the race tracks and roads, for the further appearance and handling complexity.

In 2003, Koenigsegg cars set a Guinness world record as the most powerful street cars. At the same time, the company’s engineers are working on improving the CC. Some new ideas in design and appearance are implemented on the 2003 CC 8S model on.

The new Koenigsegg CCR was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2004. This magnificent car had 806 horsepower and could reach extremely high speeds. In 2005, on February 28, the Central Committee broke the speed record of the car, reaching a new official maximum speed of 388 (387.87) km/h under the Italy’s Nardo Prototipo proving ground.

To date, the company is creating new exotic cars. CCXR prototype was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2007. This “green” car is powered by biofuel and has a powerful engine (1018 hp at 7200 rpm). This means that the Koenigsegg CCXR will be even faster than the 1001-hp Bugatti Veyron.
